Spaced repetition

Spaced repetition, from your own lectures.

Recall brings each card back just before you'd forget it, a few minutes a day, with the cards made from your own material.

Today's review: show the answer, grade it, and the next card comes up.

How Recall works

  • It schedules with FSRS, a modern algorithm: each answer updates its estimate of how well you know the card.
  • Four grades, each showing when it would bring the card back.
  • Cards come from your flashcards, from any quiz question you add, and from facts you type in.
  • A daily goal and a streak, with a freeze for one missed day a week.

Why spacing works

A review of more than 300 experiments found that spreading study out beats cramming the same amount into one session (Cepeda et al., 2006). Recalling, rather than rereading, is what makes it stick (Roediger and Karpicke, 2006).

Common questions

How long does it take each day?

A few minutes. Recall shows only what's due, and you set your own daily goal.

Is Recall free?

Yes. Recall and the focus timer are unlimited on every plan, including Free.

What if I miss a day?

The cards wait for you. A freeze covers one missed day a week, so your streak survives it.
