Adding your lectures and notes

Drop in PDFs, slides, Word files, photos, YouTube links, web pages or your own notes, and Qenot reads them.

Drop in lecture PDFs: the topic opens at once and each file is read in turn.

Qenot only works from what you give it, so the first step is always the same: add the material your course uses. Everything Qenot makes later (notes, flashcards, quizzes, answers to your questions) comes from these files and links back to the page it came from.

Three lecture PDFs added: the topic opens at once and each file is read in turn.

Add files

  1. Open Topics.

From the sidebar. If you have no topics yet, the page is a big drop area.
  2. Drop your files, or click to choose them.

You can add several at once. Qenot makes a new topic and opens it straight away; you don't have to wait for the upload.
  3. Watch them get read.

Each file shows where it is: uploading, waiting in line, reading page by page, then ready with its page count.
  4. Start using the ready ones.

You can read and make study material from any file that's ready, while the rest finish.

Add more later

Inside a topic's Workspace, the sources list has three buttons at the top:

  • Add: more files, or drop them anywhere on the list.
  • Link: a YouTube video or a web page. Qenot reads the transcript or the page text.
  • New note: type or paste your own notes. They're treated like any other source.

Choose which sources to use

Every ready source has a tick box. Study material is made from the ticked ones, so you can make a quiz on just this week's lecture. New files are ticked automatically when everything else is ticked.

Common questions

What files can I add?

PDFs, PowerPoint slides, Word documents, images and photos (including photos of handwritten notes), YouTube videos, web pages, and notes you type or paste. Each file can be up to 50 MB.

How long does reading a file take?

Most lecture PDFs are ready in under a minute. Long scanned documents take longer, because every page has to be read as an image. You can keep working while it reads; each file shows its progress.

Can I add files that are scanned or photographed?

Yes. Qenot reads the text in scans and photos, including tables and equations. Clear, straight photos work best.

Who can see what I upload?

Only you. Your files are private to your account, and you can delete any of them, or your whole account, at any time.
